FAQ: Curtains
The most frequently asked question on Instagram always has to do with our curtains. I made a reel here that shows videos of each one and will link each option for you below.
LIVING ROOM / DINING ROOM / OFFICE CURTAINS
I ordered our main level curtains first and I knew I wanted a non-white but neutral toned linen. AlsoI like my curtains to still let in a bit of light when closed- I tend to not like curtains that are blackout at home.
The kitchen, office, and living room are 3 spaces that flow in each other, so I wanted to choose the same curtain for each. I looked into custom but didn’t love the prices but needed some extra long panels for our great room, as we have one big window there.
After googling “extra long pinch-pleated curtains” and searching through all the different options, I came across these from Pottery Barn. We have 3 different ceiling heights in the 3 different rooms. The longest Pottery Barn offer is 124 inches and it happened to fit the big window in our great room perfectly. I then needed 96’’ for my office and 84’’ for the kitchen.
I chose the Parchment color - it’s not white and not quite beige either, it’s a soft neutral tone that’s flattering in all different types of light. Plus still somewhat hides the sticky finger prints from my kids quite well, actually.
PRINCIPAL BEDROOM CURTAINS
When I was ready to move onto curtain selection for our principal bedroom, I wanted to do something slightly different but still cohesive to what’s in our main level. I saw Arvin Olano talk about his Amazon curtains so I decided to give them a try too. I ordered these Amazon linen curtains in the color Sand and they are incredible in person! If we were to ever move, I’d probably use these in my entire house. I like that they are also a little sheer and still let light in.
PRINCIPAL BATH BLINDS
The final room that we have drapery is in the principal bath. I probably would have left these without curtains, but the window next to our glass shower overlooks our neighbor’s driveway, so curtains were definitely needed!
We live in an old house, so nothing is standard size, including the windows in our principal bathroom so custom was going to be the only option. Because of the layout, I also needed blinds and not curtains in this room.
Thanks to Caitlin Burke, I found this perfect option via Budget Blinds. My local Budget Blinds rep came out with a swatch book and to take measurements but none of the options in her book were quite right. I ended up ordering the exact material that Caitlin has in her home, which is Woven Woods, Natural Woven Roman Shade in the waterfall inside mount finish. I chose cordless, no lining, no valance. The color is Deerfield Pale Almond.
